How it works

Three steps. The second one happens once.

  1. Plug in your iPhone

Connect it with a USB cable, unlock it and tap Trust. Pinmist shows your iPhone by name the moment it can see it.

  2. Turn on Developer Mode

Location simulation lives behind Developer Mode, a switch Apple builds into iOS. Pinmist shows you where it is. Your iPhone restarts once, and the dot turns green.

  3. Pick a spot

Search, or click the map, then Change location. Apps see it within one to three seconds. Stop, unplug or restart, and your real location comes back.

Plainly

What Pinmist does, and what it does not.

Pinmist moves the location your iPhone reports. That is all it moves. Here is the fine print, in large type.

Does

  • Changes the location every app on your iPhone is told
  • Works without a jailbreak, using Developer Mode
  • Plays routes along real roads at walking, cycling or driving speed
  • Gives your real location back the moment you stop, unplug or restart

Does not

  • Fake the motion sensors, so steps and drive detection stay real
  • Keep the fake location after a restart
  • Make it acceptable to break an app's terms; many forbid simulated locations
  • Work on someone else's phone without them knowing: it needs the phone unlocked, trusted and plugged in

Questions

Asked often.

More in the full FAQ, or get in touch.

Do I need to jailbreak my iPhone?

No. Pinmist uses the location simulation Apple built into iOS for developers. It needs Developer Mode switched on, and you can switch it off again whenever you like.

Which apps see the new location?

Any app that asks iOS where you are: maps, weather, social and family-sharing apps, games. Pinmist changes the reported location only. It does not fake motion sensors, so step counts and drive detection still see what you are really doing.

Is this allowed?

It is your phone, and Pinmist is for adults using their own devices. Many apps forbid simulated locations in their terms and may suspend accounts that use them. Check the rules of the apps you use; you are responsible for following them.

What happens when I stop?

Your real location comes back when you press Reset, unplug the cable or restart the iPhone. iOS can take a minute or two to settle after a reset. A restart speeds it up.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

One at a time. Sign in to Pinmist on the new computer with your email, and the old one is signed out. You can also sign a computer out from your account page.

Does it work offline?

Pinmist checks your account when you start a simulation. If it cannot reach us, it keeps working for up to 14 days from the last successful check.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Ask within 14 days of paying and we will refund you in full.
